Drawing Hotel – rooms

Paris, Palais Royal a hotel and Lab dedicated to contemporary drawing. How could we celebrate this gallery spirit while creating the welcoming cocoon a hotel should provide? By respecting the pur and minimal language of a gallery, with the use of radical colors such as black, but also by adding the natural softness of wood and the comforting presence of softly contoured iconic furniture. In keeping with this spirit we developed the different atmospheres of the public space and the bedrooms. Every one of the five floors was thought together with an artist and each of them has its own mix of radical and welcoming design: the constant presence of wood and black metal, art pieces that are an integral part of the design and a selection of warm contemporary fabrics. Lighting (developed with Douet Design) is a major actor of the design: a clever mix of highly technical elements, close to museography, and iconic fixtures that create a plush atmosphere that evolves with the passing of the day. Exceptional in this neighborhood, the patio and rooftop invite the clients to inhabit the space. The warm red walls of the patio, a modest tribute to the solar design of Luis Barragàn, illuminate the very parisian and classical rue de Richelieu.
